The 5 Best Travel CPAP Machines of 2026 (Plus the Battery That Makes Them Better)
Carry-on-sized sleep therapy, ranked.
CPAP machines are prescription medical devices. This article is general information about features and travel convenience, not medical advice. Your pressure settings and equipment should be chosen with your doctor or sleep specialist, and you should talk to them before changing machines.

What we love
- 10.6oz and smaller than a paperback
- Auto-adjusting pressure with waterless humidification
- App tracking and a 2-year ResMed warranty
What bugs us
- Pricey at ~$919 for the machine alone
- Louder than most home machines (a muffler kit helps)
If you use CPAP, you know the travel struggle: a full-size machine, a water chamber, a power brick and a bag of tubing, all fighting for space in your carry-on. A travel CPAP shrinks that to something about the size of a paperback.
We compared the most popular travel CPAP machines on weight, size, noise, humidification, power options and price, using manufacturer specs, retailer listings and owner reviews.
Before you shop: CPAP machines are prescription devices. You’ll need a prescription, and your pressure settings should come from your doctor or sleep specialist. Talk to them before switching machines.

1. ResMed AirMini: Best overall travel CPAP
The ResMed AirMini is the travel CPAP most people end up with, and for good reason. It weighs 10.6 oz, measures 5.4” × 3.3” × 2.1”, and delivers auto-adjusting pressure from 4–20 cm H2O. It also has ResMed’s comfort features: Expiratory Pressure Relief (pressure eases when you breathe out), AutoRamp and SmartStart/Stop.
The big travel win is waterless humidification with ResMed’s HumidX cartridges, so there’s no hunting for distilled water at 11pm in a hotel. The app lets you set up the machine and check your sleep data.
The catch: it’s about $919 for the machine alone (~$1,084 with a mask setup), and owners say it’s louder than a home machine. ResMed lists it around 30 dBA, and a noise-cancelling kit helps. It also works best with ResMed’s compatible masks, or a compatibility pack if you’re bringing your own.
2. Transcend Micro: Lightest and smallest
The Transcend Micro is the featherweight: about 7.7 oz and roughly 3.6” × 3.6” × 2.4”. It’s auto-adjusting at 4–20 cm H2O, published at about 26–27 dBA, and usually costs less than the AirMini. Waterless humidification comes from the optional AirMist HME kit. Transcend also sells a newer Micro 510, so check the listing. Check price.
Full breakdown: ResMed AirMini vs Transcend Micro.
3. React Health Luna TravelPAP: Best value alternative
At about 14 oz, the Luna TravelPAP is heavier than the top two, but it’s FAA-compliant, runs 4–20 cm H2O, and has its own app. It doesn’t include humidification. Check price.
4. Breas Z2: Best if you can find one
The Breas Z2 is a well-liked, quiet, lightweight auto CPAP (about 10.5 oz) with an optional waterless HME. The problem is availability. It was out of stock at RespShop when we checked. Check availability.
5. Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite: Best add-on
Not a CPAP, but it might be the best travel upgrade you can make. A CPAP battery like the Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite lets you run therapy on a plane, while camping, or during a power outage. Check that it’s compatible with your machine before you buy. Check price.
How to pick
- Want the safe, popular choice? ResMed AirMini.
- Every ounce matters? Transcend Micro.
- Flying long-haul or camping? Add a battery, whatever the machine.
- Already happy with a ResMed home machine? The AirMini keeps you in the same ecosystem and app.
Bottom line: the ResMed AirMini is the best all-around travel CPAP thanks to its waterless humidification, auto-adjusting therapy and ResMed support. The Transcend Micro is the pick if you want the lightest machine for less.
